Bio

My name is Angie Bolton and I have been teaching at Vina High School for 28 years.  I started out teaching 1st grade and the next year I moved to 2nd grade where I have been ever since.

I really enjoy this age because they are eager to learn new things. I am always looking for new projects, ideas, and units to do in my classroom. This year we have made unit folders (portfolios), we are using the chromebooks every day in class, they take tests on the computers, and they are learning new sites to use in class.  My students enjoy doing these things and they learn so much from each of them. Each student has the opportunity to have a chromebook and to use it individually to search and do work on them. This is an advantage that most second grade students do not have in this area.

I went to Northwest Jr. College and then transferred to UNA where I received my teaching degree. I went back later and received my masters in Elementary Education.

I have a son named John.  He is 21 years old and he is my pride and joy. I live on a farm near my mom and dad, who were both teachers at Vina. My mom taught first grade. I enjoyed teaching behind her for many years. My dad coached me in basketball and while I played under him we won the State Championship for two years in a row. It was a great experience that I will always remember. I also have a brother that went to school here. He has a daughter that is attending the University of Alabama.

I also help coach girls' basketball. I have been involved with sports at Vina for many years. It is exciting to see the girls improve throughout the year. I am proud to be associated with the kids at Vina High School.
